Manchester United remains the most likely destination, should a Donyell Malen transfer away from Borussia Dortmund materialise this summer.
Donyell Malaen Transfer Exclusive
Both Manchester United and Liverpool are being linked with Donyell Malen, but sources are sceptical of the chances he actually ends up at Anfield.
Malen has long been on the radar of recruitment staff at Liverpool, but such a transfer does not appear likely right now, sources close to the situation suggest. Arsenal have also been linked but, similarly, are not advancing this one in any way at the moment.
The potential for him to leave Dortmund in the summer is concrete however, and there remains a chance that Man United do consider the prospect of signing him more strongly.
Malen, 25, can play across the front line but is usually seen playing off the right side of attack.
That is a position United are definitely shortlisting as an area for strengthening in the summer, and indications from Germany insist such a move could develop.
This need for bolstering on the right side of attack in compounded by the uncertain future of Antony, and United have also been strongly linked with Michael Olise of Crystal Palace. We exclusively revealed that interest at the beginning of January and explorations around the situation are ongoing.
If United do not sign Olise then Malen is one of the other considerations and relations with Dortmund are important.
United currently have Jadon Sancho on loan at Signal Iduna Park and there is hope that they may buy the English winger if his spell continues on its current positive trajectory.
It has been pretty good so far and Dortmund do want to keep him next season – but we have also revealed previously that they favour a second loan deal.
There is some potential this opens up in a way that sees Malen move to United, and Sancho stays put in Germany.
