England are done and dusted until June after playing their two scheduled friendlies in preparation for the Euros. It’s normal for teams to play additional friendlies in June before a major tournament, but do England have any more fixtures lined up?
England’s March troubles
Fans were disappointed with the performances and results in England‘s games against Brazil and Belgium. Although there were a lot of absentees with injuries, neither match filled the nation with confidence going into the Euros in the summer.
However, Gareth Southgate’s men will have a chance to rectify that, as they have two more friendlies scheduled in for June ahead of their flight to Germany.
Will England play again before the Euros?
England have booked friendlies against Iceland and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Both sides had the chance to book their place for Euro 2024, but were pipped to qualification in the play-offs.
England will face Bosnia-Herzegovina first at St. James Park on June 3rd. Four days later they take on Iceland at Wembley.
Speaking about the warm-up matches, Southgate said: “We’re really looking forward to taking the team back to the North East and to a city that is synonymous with football in this country.
“We will follow that with another special occasion at Wembley allowing our fans the opportunity to give us a final send-off before we head to Germany for another exciting summer.
“Both opponents in June are sure to provide stiff competition and play an important part in our preparation for the tournament.”
Who have England got in the Euro 2024 group stage?
England’s group stage draw for the Euros was quite a favourable one. They face Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia. Fans will be expecting England to top that group, but it’s how they’ll do in the knockout rounds that’ll concern fans.
England start their Euros campaign against Serbia on June 16. The Three Lions will then take on Denmark four days later before finishing the group against Slovenia on the 25th.
