Former Manchester United goalkeeper Dave de Gea is now just 10/11 (from 4/1) to make a sensational January return to the club, according to Sportslens exclusive odds.
The Spaniard left Old Trafford last summer but with his replacement Andre Onana set to miss several games due to representing Cameroon at AFCON, Erik ten Hag could be forced into the market.
De Gea was as big as 4/1 at the start of October but represents the most cost-effective signing for United as the 32-year-old is yet to find a new club since leaving the Manchester Club.
Other options for Ten Hag could include benched Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale who is 8/1 to make the move, though the former Sheffield United stopper is likely to command a hefty fee.
United have been long-term supporters of Jan Oblak who is also 8/1 to make a move with a £45milion fee mooted in the past. Keylor Navas (14/1) could also prove to be an option.
Neil Roarty, Betting Expert at Sportslens, said: “Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be forced to eat humble pie and green light a return for former goalkeeper David de Gea with the Reds likely to be short of cover early next year.
“De Gea is available on a free so it makes financial sense with money unlikely to be thrown about while talks of a takeover linger in the air. If the budget does become available then long-term target Jan Oblak will surely be in the mix again.”
