Former Liverpool and Everton boss Rafa Benitez has emerged as one of the favourites to take over at Nottingham Forest should they part ways with Steve Cooper.
Forest had one of the busiest transfer windows of any club in all of Europe this Summer, as the newly promoted side brought in a staggering 21 players over the break.
Despite the new additions brought into the City Ground, Forest have really struggled to adjust to life in the Premier League so far, and sit bottom with four points after eight games.
The defeat to Leicester on Monday night was a fifth on the bounce in the league for Forest, who will need to change something fast if they want to stand any chance of surviving.
Conversations about Steve Cooper are bound to be happening within the club this week and with the Forest boss running out of time, there are already rumours flying around over who could take over.
Former Liverpool and Everton manager Rafa Benitez is rumoured to be a surprise candidate for the job per the Telegraph’s John Percy, with his experience at the top levels of Europe making him a “high-profile appointment”.
Benitez also already has connections inside Forest with Lee Charnley, who was Newcastle United’s managing director during the Spaniard’s time at St James’ Park.
Should Benitez take over, he could see a reunion with one of his former teams later this month, as Liverpool travel to the City Ground in late October.
