Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has been included in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup, much to the delight of many.

Alongside Maddison, Newcastle’s Callum Wilson has also received the call. Neither player has featured for England since 2019, but recent club form made it hard for Southgate to leave the pair at home.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Man City’s Kyle Walker and Arsenal defender Ben White were also selected, with Rashford and Walker both questionable – for different reasons.
Rashford has earned a place back in the squad after missing the last round of international games. Meanwhile the situation regarding Walker’s recent injury sparked the debate on whether he’d be fit in time or not, however the 32-year-old should be fully fit by the end of the group stages.
Speaking of the groups, England face Iran in their World Cup opener on November 21, and they’re joined in Group B by Wales and the United States.
There are a couple of names that many were shocked to see included, like Harry Maguire – who has barely touched a football this season, however his past form for his country has been good in other tournaments.
AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori and Brentford striker Ivan Toney missed out on a call-up in a decision that has been frowned up on by England fans.
Gutted for Abraham, Ward-Prowse, Tomori , Toney all left out harshly in my opinion
