Chelsea’s Reece James is the latest England right-back to pick up an injury, after going off midway through his side’s 2-0 win in the Champions League at AC Milan.
It’s another potential blow for Gareth Southgate ahead of the World Cup, as England have already been sweating following the loss to Kyle Walker after he underwent surgery last week for a groin injury. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold also has been ruled out for a few weeks after coming off at half time in his side’s 3-2 loss against Arsenal at the weekend.
As players we have to appreciate injuries are part and parcel of the game we love. My operation on Tuesday was a success and now I can concentrate on my rehab and getting back to full fitness. I will be supporting my team mates every day in any way I can. 💙 pic.twitter.com/BcwIAjkb8B

Southgate will have an anxious wait for news on the 14-cap James, a player who was involved in England’s last round of games.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter said that he wouldn’t find out until later this week how bad the injury was.
“Reece, we’re hoping he is OK but it is too early to say until 24-48 hours after,” said Potter.
Fingers crossed it’s not a bad one 🤞🏾 Love for all the messages, I appreciate you all 💙🫶🏽 pic.twitter.com/2DvHS5r4lM

In this moment in time, this leaves Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier as the only established fit right-back.
