Chelsea vs Brighton Preview & Prediction
Joao Pedro got the all important goal as Brighton narrowly overcame AEK Athens in midweek to secure their spot in the knockout stages of the Europa League, and they follow that up with a trip to the English capital to take on Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The Seagulls’ European triumph saw them extend their unbeaten run to seven straight matches, a return that sees them come into the weekend eighth in the Premier League table, meanwhile the Blues find themselves six points behind.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have enjoyed a decent spell of form over the last couple of months, beating Brighton in the Carabao Cup and Tottenham in the league, as well as playing out draws against the top two -Manchester City and Arsenal.
Last time out though, they were heavily beaten by Newcastle 4-1 as club captain Reece James was shown his marching orders after receiving two yellow cards, while Brighton were in action against Nottingham Forest – who they narrowly bested with a 3-2 scoreline.
Both sides have a number of key players unavailable due to injury and suspension too, making this one an incredibly tough one to call either way – therefore we at SportsLens are backing a score draw at Stamford Bridge.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Brighton
Chelsea vs Brighton Betting Tips
- Both Teams To Score @ 4/7
- Raheem Sterling To Score Anytime @ 15/8
- Combined Bet Builder Odds @ 3/1
Chelsea vs Brighton Betting Tip 1: Both Teams To Score @ 4/7
Our first tip for your Sunday afternoon Chelsea vs Brighton Premier League bet builder is to back both teams to score during the clash, priced at 4/7.
As the odds would suggest, both teams scoring at Stamford Bridge has a high likelihood. This can be backed up by the pair’s results this season, as both teams have scored in all 13 of the Seagulls’ English top flight outings, with the feat being achieved in five of the Blues’ last six league matches too.
Not only that, but both teams have scored in six of the last seven meetings between the pair in the league, with Brighton notably doing the double over the Londoners last term with 2-1 and 4-1 victories.
Chelsea vs Brighton Betting Tip 2: Raheem Sterling To Score Anytime @ 15/8
Raheem Sterling looks to be a man on a mission to reclaim his spot in the England squad ahead of next summer’s European Championship in Germany, and despite continually being snubbed by Gareth Southgate – he has continued to excel at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old has scored in two successive Premier League matches, grabbing the Blues’ sole goal vs Newcastle last week, and one of the four against Manchester City prior to that, and now boasts four goals and one assist in his last seven appearances in all competitions.
We at SportsLens are backing the winger to add to his five-goal tally in the top flight by scoring at anytime against Brighton Sunday, and you can do so too – priced at 15/8 by leading UK bookmakers.
