Wolves have sacked their manager, Bruno Lage, after one win & just three goals scored in eight PL games this season.
It seemed inevitable that after a summer of spending and a poor start to the season, Lage paid the price.
Yesterday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham was the final nail in the coffin for Lage.
Disappointing Start For Bruno Lage
After a 10th place finish with Wolves last season, Lage struggled to make progress with the team over the summer.
Wolves let influential defender, Conor Coady, leave on loan to Everton over the summer. Coady had been an important player for Wolves for several years. The decision to let him leave, but only signed one replacement.
Wolves also lost Willy Boly and Romain Saïss leave the club during the summer. These two weren’t constant players for Wolves, but with Coady leaving it ended up not being the best decision for Lage.
Bruno Lage Revolution
Lage had the tough task of replacing Nuno Espírito Santo who built the side into his own during his numerous years at the club.
Bruno oversaw a change in philosophy at the club, and made some key signings for the club.
One key signing is Jose Sa. Sa was brought into replace Rui Patricio, who, like Nunes, had been at the club for various years. The gloves left spare by Rui were big ones to fill but Sa has done just that.

What Have Wolves Said About Bruno Lage’s Departure?
Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said:
“Bruno is an excellent coach, a hardworking and dedicated manager, and a warm, wise and honest man.
“He and his staff have been a pleasure to work with throughout their time at Wolves, so it is with much sadness that we have had to make what has been a difficult decision.
“I honestly have no doubts about Bruno’s ability, and I’m sure he will succeed elsewhere, however the team’s form and performances over the last few months mean that we have no choice but to act.
“On behalf of everyone at Wolves, I would like to place on record our gratitude to Bruno and his coaching team for all their efforts during their time with the club, and wish them the very best for the future.”
