Bruno Guimarães has addressed transfer rumours away from Newcastle this summer, with the Brazilian midfielder admitting that he wants to become a legend with the Magpies.
Bruno Guimarães Going Nowhere
After another fantastic season with Newcastle, there has been rumours circulating this summer that Bruno Guimarães could be seeking a move away from St. James’ Park.
However during a pre season press conference this week, Guimarães was quick to shut down the transfer rumours with an answer that will fill Newcastle fans with confidence for the future.
“I’m very happy at Newcastle, I never said I would like to leave!
“That is all with my agent I don’t know anything about it. My focus has always been Newcastle since I have been here, I have always been Newcastle.”
I'm very happy to be starting another season with this club that has done so much for me since my first day here. I'm glad to be back and more prepared than ever to have a brilliant season and to help Newcastle reach the highest possible position! Another dream has come true!… pic.twitter.com/aEmrwC4qa9

“I always said I would like to put my name in the club’s history. I can’t wait to do my best for the club and the fans.”
Guimarães has quickly established himself as a fan favourite in Newcastle since joining from Lyon in 2022 and his transfer fee has definitely skyrocketed after an impressive two years.
Last season Guimarães missed just one Premier League game all year and that was through yellow card suspension after he picked up five bookings early on in the campaign.
With seven goals and eight assists from midfield in 2023/24, Guimarães proved that he is more than just a midfielder and has made himself almost irreplaceable in Eddie Howe’s team.
Guimarães’ contract had a £100million release clause this summer, but with that expiring at the end of June, clubs will find it even harder to agree a fee for the 26-year-old.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have all been reportedly keeping tabs on Guimarães this summer but with his release clause expiring and the Brazilian keen to stay, it seems unlikely that any move will be made for the Newcastle man.
