Brighton vs Burnley Report: Stalemate at the Amex Stadium
Brighton entered the game searching for their fourth win in five in all competitions, while the Clarets were looking to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Wolves in midweek.
Burnley started the game strongly with two early chances. First, Johann Berg Gudmundsson curled a shot from the right-hand side just past the post, before Zeki Amdouni forced Bart Verbruggen into a relatively straight-forward save.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side responded with chances of their own. Pascal Gross and James Milner had efforts stopped by James Trafford, who finished the game with 10 saves in total.
It was 19-year-old Wilson Odobert who broke the deadlock in Burnley’s favour, scoring his second goal of the season. The young Frenchman raced down the left flank before cutting inside and curling an effort into the top corner.
Jay Rodriguez came close to doubling Burnley’s lead before the Seagulls drew level. Gross’ inviting cross met the head of Simon Adingra, who scored his fourth Premier League goal.
The hosts then pushed for a winner but could not find one. Trafford stopped headers from Evan Ferguson and Jack Hinshelwood before pushing Kaoru Mitoma’s downward strike behind in the final few seconds.
Brighton turn their attention to Marseille in the Europa League next before travelling to Arsenal in the Premier League. As for Burnley, they host Everton next Saturday in the 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
