Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest Report: Villa Ease Past Forest In Six Goal Thriller
Ollie Watkins took just under four minutes to break the deadlock at Villa Park on Saturday, with a tap-in from close range putting the hosts in front.
Villa’s quick started continued against Forest and they largely dominated up until the second goal. Douglas Luiz doubled Villa’s advantage midway through the first half, with a powerful strike from close range.
Luiz scored his second of the game and his tenth goal of the season just before half time, as the Brazilian nodded his side surely out of reach from Forest who couldn’t get a look in.
The visitors weren’t to be deterred even at three goals down and a crucial finish from Moussa Niakhaté just before half time kept Forest in the game with the score 3-1 as the players took a break.
Nuno Espírito Santo rang the changes at half time, bringing on Divock Origi, Andrew Omobamidele and Harry Toffolo on to try and rescue a desperate situation away from home.
Forest began the second half just as they finished the first, with captain fantastic Morgan Gibbs-White grabbing the visitors’ second of the match to reduce the deficit to just one.
It was Villa who sealed the game however, with a Leon Bailey strike on the hour mark securing all three points for the hosts despite a scare from Forest.
