Arsenal vs Sheffield United Preview and Prediction

Arsenal return from a midweek excursion in Spain, where the individual brilliance of Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus edged them over the line.

That victory moved them top of their Champions League group, but for now their attention quickly switches back to keeping themselves abreast of the Premier League’s leading pack.

Along with Tottenham, they are one of two unbeaten sides in the top-flight, although they currently sit two points adrift of their North London neighbours.

With Spurs facing a potential stumbling block this weekend against Chelsea, the Gunners will have identified this upcoming fixture as an absolute must-win.

Sheffield United find themselves rock-bottom of the table heading into gameweek ten, and are one of two teams yet to taste victory this campaign. They have lost all but one of their games in the process, so the Arsenal faithful will no doubt accept nothing short of win on Saturday afternoon.

With that in mind, see below for our specific betting tips where we predict a fruitful afternoon in front of goal for the hosts.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United Tips

  • Arsenal to Win to Nil @ 4/6
  • Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz to Score @ 4/1
  • Combined Bet Builder Odds @ 15/2

Arsenal vs Sheffield United Tip 1: Arsenal to Win to Nil

Only Manchester City have conceded fewer goals than Arsenal this season, and although the Gunners have been far better on the road – as was the story last season – we expect them to limit Sheffield United to great effect.

The joint-worst attacking unit in the Premier League will attempt to cause an upset of monumental proportions, but there is little to suggest from their recent performances that this has any chance of materialising.

The Blades have managed to find consolation goals against the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham and latterly United, but Arsenal have been particularly resolute at the back thus far.

It will be interesting to see whether Takehiro Tomiyasu – who was Arsenal’s man of the match in Seville – keeps his place at left-back. This should shore up what is perhaps the only weak point in their defence.

An expected midfield trio of Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey oozes control and should make getting hold of the ball very difficult for the visitors.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United Tip 2: Trossard and Havertz to Score

A slightly left-field selection for the second part of our prediction, but unearthing value in this fixture proved difficult given Arsenal are as short as 1/8.

Although hot and cold at times, Leandro Trossard chipped in with a crucial goal at Stamford Bridge last weekend, and although he may not start, he is very likely to get his fair share of minutes if the Gunners can race into an early lead.

He represents a solid threat having notched in two Premier League goals as a bit-part player.

As for Kai Havertz – here us out.

Sheffield United are allowing an average of 21.2 shots per game, which indicates the perfect opportunity for Kai Havertz to grab his first goal from open play. The Blades have been truly woeful at the back, and are particularly susceptible in the box when failing to pick up late runners.

Havertz’s confidence appears to be improving game-by-game, and we just have an inkling he can find the net in what could turn into a rout.
