Arsenal are not interested in making a fresh attempt to sign Mykhailo Mudryk.
Despite reports suggesting that the Chelsea winger, who joined for £88.5 million, might become available in the summer, Arsenal sources deny any interest, even as they assess potential squad changes for the upcoming season.
Arsenal were favourites to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk before Chelsea snapped him up at the last minute in January 2023.
It was seen as a major statement at the time, but Mudryk has not lived up to expectations, and Arsenal have moved on without him.
They signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton days later instead for £27 million, and it has proved to be a great fall-back option as he fitted in seamlessly and has been outperforming Chelsea’s pricey Ukrainian.
Mudryk has five goals and five assists since moving to Stamford Bridge, while Trossard has 11 goals and 12 assists to his name so far at Arsenal.
This is a crucial stage for Mudryk to come to life at Chelsea, as they currently sit mid-table in the Premier League and look towards the FA Cup as their only chance of silverware.
Some reports suggest Mudryk could even move on loan in the summer, but Chelsea are currently working to get him into form and inject new life into their campaign.
Mudryk scored in the midweek FA Cup win over Leeds United, and there is a feeling he could be handed a rare Premier League start against Brentford this weekend.
Though he was reported to have been in tears when he was joining Chelsea rather than Arsenal, the Gunners, regardless of the legitimacy of those reports, are not going to look into signing him at this stage.
Meanwhile, Mudryk is determined to ensure that his transfer to Chelsea does not go down as one of the worst of all time.
