Amadou Onana transfer news is likely to intensify ahead of his likely sale this summer, as Everton look to boost their chances of holding onto Jordan Pickford and Jarrad Branthwaite.
Amadou Onana Transfer Exclusive
Amadou Onana has found himself out of the team over the past month, and at a time when the club are looking to improve their financial situation, he would be considered the best asset to move on.
Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is being linked with Chelsea, while centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite is strongly rumoured to be the subject of an approach from Manchester United.
Both deals seem feasible given the financial issues Everton are juggling this summer. However, there is no desire to lose either player, so both clubs are going to be forced to wait.
United have been hoping for an early sign on Branthwaite’s valuation so they can weigh up a serious offer but the Toffees are not in a rush to do business, and will aim to price him out of a move early in the window.
Onana, 22, has been linked with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham and is expected to hold a valuation of £60million.
As yet there is no firm progress in anyone signing him but Arsenal could come more into focus if they fail with a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi.
We have revealed how the Real Sociedad midfielder is wanted by the Gunners but that boss Mikel Arteta faces a job to convince him to make the move to the Premier League.
Zubimendi is wary of moving to England and is comfortable in Spain – so if that switch to Arsenal can not happen then their interest in Onana will grow, along with potentially stepping interest up in Newcastle’s £100million-rated Bruno Guimaraes.
We have also reported how Arsenal are unsure about paying £60million for Onana and hope there could be some negotiation around that, if their pursuit becomes more active.
Everton – who signed Onana for £33million in 2022 – feel it is a fair rate in the current market as they look to offload at least one big name. Their Belgian midfielder currently seems a preferable option to go.
