World Matchplay Darts Tips & Predictions
This year’s World Matchplay will undoubtedly be a thrilling event, with a very open field. Michael Van Gerwen could most definitely win his 4th Matchplay title as he looks to defend his crown after winning the competition last year. The Dutchman has already won four PDC titles this year including the Premier League and the US Darts Masters.
Meanwhile Luke Humphries has had a smashing July so far picking up two titles so far. He won the European Matchplay in Trier at the start of the month, and followed up his good form with a win in Players Championship 14 on the floor in Leicester on Monday.
Gerwyn Price didn’t have the best start to 2023 but has looked better in recent months. He won back-t0-back Euro Tour events in March and April and then won the World Cup of Darts alongside Jonny Clayton in June. The Iceman was a finalist last year for the first time, and will look to go one better this year.
Michael Smith is another player who will be bidding for his first World Matchplay title. He won the World Championships at the start of this year and has a favourable first round draw against Steve Beaton. The Bully Boy can beat anybody on his day, but will need to be at his best next week to win in Blackpool.
There are plenty of chances at this year’s World Matchplay, but our outright tip here at Sportslens is Luke Humphries priced at 12/1. He’s certainly throwing some of the best darts of his life, and is going from strength to strength.
Back Luke Humphries to win the 2023 World Matchplay Darts @ 12/1 with BetUK
Humphries is a major PDC title winner waiting to happen, and with 22 PDC titles to his name already, he is just in need of a big one. The 28-year-old is ranked sixth in the world as of now and has accumulated more than £200,000 in two-year European Tour earning on his Order of Merit and only Michael van Gerwen has won more.
