Saudi Arabia is yet again trying to poach one of Europe’s biggest stars this summer, as this time Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are targeting Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. with a ludicrous contract offer.
Is Vinicius Jr Saudi Bound?
Vinicius Jr. was without a doubt one of the best players in the world last season and he remains as one of the favourites for the Ballon d’Or this year following a sensational campaign with Real Madrid.
As with any player at the top of their game right now, Vinicius has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, but the proposed offer this time is larger than any other deal in sporting history.
It has been reported that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) are willing to make Vinicius the highest paid athlete in history, with a proposal sent to the player that would include a €200million yearly salary over five years.

€200M per year over 5 seasons. 💰
The offer is 20x more than what he earns at Real Madrid. They want to make him the face of the Saudi Pro League.

However, Real Madrid are refusing to let Vinicius go for any less than his release clause, which currently stands at an eye-watering €1billion.
PIF have made it clear that any deal completed for Vinicius would be under the €1billion mark, which could prevent any move from going through this summer.
The Saudi’s are keen on bringing the Brazilian overseas not just for his footballing ability, but to also be the ambassador for a 2034 World Cup which is set to be held in Saudi Arabia.
🚨 BREAKING: Saudi's offer to Vinícius:
• €1 BILLION salary, 13x bigger than his current one.
• Free agency in 2029.
• Opportunity to return to Europe before Vini turns 30 years old.
• Whatever job he wants in Saudi football after retirement.
• Ambassador for 2034 World… pic.twitter.com/QVLcCQxdAY— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) August 12, 2024
Although Madrid seem very much against the proposal from PIF, Vinicius and his camp are still yet to reject a deal that would make the 24-year-old the highest paid footballer of all time.
The current transfer record is held by another Brazilian in Neymar, with the former Barcelona and PSG forward making the popular move to Saudi Arabia for €222m back in 2023.
Vinicius scored 24 goals in 39 appearances for Madrid last year, in a campaign where Los Blancos won La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and a second Champions League title.
Should Vinicius reject the PIF offer and stay with Madrid, the La Liga champions could become one of the most dominant teams ever with the addition of Kylian Mbappe to their roster this summer.
