SportsLens sources are suggesting Florian Wirtz he will not move yet, as he plans to bide his time before jumping into a major transfer away from Bayer Leverkusen.
Wirtz, 20, has been in the form of his life this season and his status can be expected to hit new levels in the summer when he stars for Germany at Euro 2024.
His output has continued at a phenomenal rate, scoring 13 goals and chipping in with 18 assists, making him one of the key reasons why Bayer Leverkusen will win the Bundesliga this season.
Leverkusen are 13 points clear and have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. They are into the DFB Pokal final, too, after Wirtz scored twice on Wednesday night to help his side see off Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Manager Xabi Alonso has decided to turn down interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich in order to focus on another campaign at Leverkusen, and it is expected Wirtz could stick by his side as a result.
Alonso’s fluid style of play gives him license to thrill in a free-roaming role, and sources suggest that Wirtz also believes it could be a good idea to stay with Leverkusen with a view to establishing himself on the global stage.
Leverkusen will be in the Champions League next season and it is expected he will see that as a great opportunity to feel his way into the top level of club football, with Alonso as his guide.
It would then be a case of carefully choosing his next transfer – and he may even decide to follow his manager into a new club.
Alonso is being tipped to take over at Real Madrid when Carlo Ancelotti leaves and it is understood Bernabeu scouts have had an eye on Wirtz for some time.
In England, Liverpool have long standing interest in Wirtz, while Manchester City have always ensured they have him monitored incase of a change in his club situation.
