Sheffield United are on course to be relegated from the Premier League this season and the Blades could break several records in the process.

2023/24 Premier League Review: Sheffield United

Sheffield United earned a place in the Premier League after a successful campaign in the Championship last season, finishing second with 91 points.

Paul Heckingbottom came into the season as the manager at Bramall Lane but was sacked in December 2023 – after just 14 matches in charge.

Chris Wilder was appointed for his second spell with the Blades and has failed to improve things in Sheffield – sitting bottom of the Premier League.

Under Heckingbottom Sheffield United suffered huge defeats, losing 8-0 to Newcastle, 5-0 to Arsenal and 5-0 to Burnley.

Wilder has also suffered some disappointing losses, losing 5-0 to Aston Villa and Brighton, as well as a 6-0 defeat to Arsenal last time out.

Sheffield United are on course to finish the season as one of the worst Premier League teams in history, with a host of unwanted records heading their way.

The Blades have already set a new record this season, as they became the first team to pick up just one point from the opening 10 Premier League matches.

If form continues, then the Blades could end the season with the most goals conceded in Premier League history, the worst goal difference ever recorded, the most home defeats and the most defeats in general.

Chris Wilder’s side are on track to break the record for most goals conceded in a Premier League season, which is currently set at 100 by Swindon.
