Bournemouth 0-1 Manchester City Report: Phil Foden’s Fine Form Continues
A close game was expected between Manchester City and Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon and from the off it was clear that the Cherries were prepared to soak up the intense pressure of City’s attack.
Erling Haaland missed a huge chance early in the game to give the visitors the lead, as the Norwegian scuffed his shot well wide of the mark when one on one.
Bournemouth weren’t without their chances on Saturday, with Ederson tested in goal multiple times from range through the 90 minutes.
While Haaland has been struggling for goals lately his teammate Phil Foden has more than stepped up to the plate, with the forward enjoying his best campaign to date for City.
Foden was again on hand to score for City this weekend, as he knocked in a rebounded shot from close range to send the visitors one goal up midway through the first half.
There was no big chances of note for either team during the rest of the game, as Bournemouth countered when they could but struggled to get near the City goal until thee later stages of the match.
Enes Ünal came off the bench late on for the Cherries and made a chance out of nothing, but his header just wide of the post was as close as the hosts would get to scoring on Saturday afternoon.
What Next For Bournemouth & Manchester City?
Up next for Manchester City is Luton Town away in the FA Cup fifth round, which could prove to be a more difficult game than on paper midweek.
Bournemouth on the other hand will face Championship high-flyers Leicester City in the cup with Burnley away in the league next Sunday.
