Chelsea legend Eden Hazard recollects the ‘perfect’ moment when he infamously kicked a Swansea ball boy.
What did Hazard say?
Chelsea were 2-0 down in the League Cup semi-final against Swansea. Frustrations were growing and Hazard lashed out at the Swansea ball boy (Charlie Morgan) for not giving the ball back quickly. He kicked Morgan and was given his marching orders.
Speaking on the Obi One podcast, Hazard was asked if that was the biggest low point in his career. He replied: “No. No, not at all.
“After I came back home, I said to myself ‘this guy is just staying on the ball and I tried to kick the ball and I get a red card?!’
“The funny story is that I couldn’t say it but my wife was pregnant and the baby was coming that day, so me getting the red card and three games out was perfect.
“That’s the reality, perfect holiday, thank you guys! Now people are going to think I did it on purpose but not at all.
“It’s a bit like when you play on the street, someone is on the ball and you’re like ‘hey! Give me the ball man. “I met him last week and we had a chat in Madrid, it’s a good story to tell.”
Where is the Swansea ball boy now?
Morgan isn’t playing for Swansea. He’s not even a footballer. He’s a successful entrepreneur and owner of AU Vodka. It reportedly has pocketed him £40million. It’s a strange world.

Hazard retired last year despite only being 33. He moved to Real Madrid in 2019 which destroyed his career. He struggled with injuries and never found any form.
He remains a Chelsea legend though with 110 goals in 352 appearances.
