Neymar Jr has said that Messi keeps trying to lure him away from Al-Hilal to join Inter Miami.

What has Messi said?

Neymar holds the record of most expensive signing of all time when he left Barcelona for PSG in a deal worth £190m. He left Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez behind. He may be about to re-join them after seven years.

According to SPORF, the quote from Neymar is: “I have spoken with Messi, he said that he wants me to go to Inter Miami.”

Former Barcelona teammates Messi, Suarez and Sergio Busquets are now all at Inter Miami. They hope Neymar can complete the MSN reunion. They’d no doubt tear the MLS up based on their previous history together.

MSN legacy

MSN (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) scored 253 goals in 113 matches together. They won the Champions League, multiple La Liga’s and domestic cups.

Neymar decided to leave Barcelona as he felt he was in Messi’s shadow. Brazilian agent Andre Cury worked with Neymar and Barcelona.

He said: “I think he left because of what happened after the 6-1 match against PSG. Neymar had won that game practically alone and on the front pages of the next day the one who came out was Lionel Messi.”

“He has a very good relationship with Messi, of course. He didn’t want to compete with Leo because he loves him very much. From there all his friends told him that he was going to be wrong[if he left Barcelona], that in two months he was going to ask to come back, but you won’t be able to.”

Neymar took the £40m-a-year contract at PSG. He enjoyed success there and he won many Ligue 1 titles but he never managed to replicate the same form he showed at Barcelona.

Messi joined PSG in 2021. The front three was Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Messi. They were tipped to be the best front three of all time but they never jelled together.

Neymar at Al-Hilal

Neymar is now the highest paid footballer of all time. He earns an annual salary of £174m. Luring him away from Al-Hilal will be a big task for Messi.

Neymar has only played three matches for Al-Hilal as he’s nursing a serious knee injury.
