Arsenal are poised to issue a hands-off warning to any club contemplating a late bid for Aaron Ramsdale, whose long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is uncertain due to concerns about his role in the team.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has slipped down the pecking order following David Raya’s arrival, leading to speculation about his potential departure this month, fuelled by worries about his spot in the England squad.
So far, the Gunners have not received an approach for Ramsdale from any club, and information out of the club is that they hope that remains the case.
However, if any club face a goalkeeping crisis in the coming week, they might be tempted to knock at the door as they seek a short-term solution.
While Mikel Arteta and other Arsenal officials are adamant about retaining him, a substantial offer could test the player’s resolve and feelings about his current situation.
Sources within the club are adamant that Arsenal have no inclination to let Ramsdale leave on loan, though. If there is to be any chance of him leaving at all, it would take a huge offer to initiate a discussion.
Ramsdale’s playing time has been limited this season, making just five Premier League appearances, and only one of them—a 1-0 win against Brentford—has come in the last 17 fixtures; even that was only because Raya was ineligible.
