West Ham United lead the chase for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips – but betting odds suggest some of Europe’s giants are keeping tabs on his movements.
The 28-year-old midfielder looked set for a move to Newcastle at the start of the window, but Eddie Howe’s team have fallen down the list in recent days due to FFP restrictions.
Phillips joined Manchester City from boyhood club Leeds United in 2022, but has struggled for minutes under Pep Guardiola.
With just four Premier League appearances and another four in the Champions League, he’s become a fringe player at best.
And with the Euros coming up, he needs minutes desperately. A key man for Gareth Southgate at recent tournaments, Phillips will want regular football to ensure his place in the England squad.
The 31-cap star has therefore been told he is allowed to leave by Guardiola.
As it stands, a switch within the Premier League seems most likely. West Ham are now heavy favourites at 7/4, with Crystal Palace also in the hunt.
Could Kalvin Phillips Be Heading To Europe?
But in a shock twist, reports have emerged linking several of Europe’s biggest clubs with Phillips. Serie A giants Juventus are now at 4/1, while Barcelona are a 6/1 possibility.
And another La Liga side in Ateltico Madrid could be interested, with odds of 8/1.
Initial frontrunners Newcastle appear to have cooled their interest, as Eddie Howe has been hamstrung with spending restrictions this window.
Elsewhere, Brighton have a slim chance of signing Phillips at 16/1.
Despite Jordan Henderson’s well-publicised issues over there, there remains an outside chance of Phillips making the move to a Saudi Pro League side.
And rounding out the list of Kalvin Phillips’ next club possibilities is Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions signed England captain Harry Kane in the summer from Tottenham, and have been given a 25/1 chance of signing Phillips.
