Victor Boniface has crucial to Bayer Leverkusen’s magnificent start to the season, scoring 10 goals in the Bundesliga. Arsenal fans have been crying our for a clinical striker and they may have just found one.

What has Boniface said?

On the John Obi Mikel podcast, Boniface admitted that he is a Gooner. He said: “For me, right from a young age I’ve supported Arsenal all my life,” he said.

Chelsea fans won’t appreciate Mikel’s response as he weighed in on the topic. He replied: “I grew up supporting Arsenal because of one person, Nwankwo Kanu.

“I loved watching Arsenal because of Kanu. It’s that thing that where a Nigerian player plays, you tend to support your own.

“Now when you watch the kids coming up, everybody, because of me, Victor Moses, everybody has moved to Chelsea.”

Who is Boniface?

To use the words of one Micah Richards, Boniface has ‘burst onto the scene’ this season, scoring 10 goals in the Bundesliga to help Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen top the table.

He has already gained interest from Juventus, Lazio and Newcastle. But Arsenal are in desperate need of a deadly striker and Boniface might be the man they need.

However, it’s very unlikely he’ll sign in January as he won’t be able to play again until April due to having surgery for a muscle problem.

Arsenal fans react to Boniface

Arsenal Fan Tv has reacted to the Boniface news and it’s a no brainer from them.

On X, one user under the name ‘Nevers’ has given their verdict on the news. They’ve put: “Victor Boniface to Arsenal – who says no.”

Another fan named Demola has tweeted: “Arteta, there’s your clue. Boniface is an Arsenal fan. Go and get him!”

Arsenal striker targets

If Arsenal want to seriously challenge for the league title this season, they’ll need a striker in January. Ivan Toney has been the most persistent rumour but Brentford value Toney at around £80m. He also hasn’t played since May due to a ban for breaching betting rules, so he might not be as sharp as Arsenal would want him.

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke has been another potential option. Solanke has scored 13 goals this season and has the attributes that Arsenal have been lacking upfront.

Boniface wouldn’t come cheap given his current reputation and age. The 23-year-old has a lot more to give than what we’ve seen of him so far.
