Ahead of the second-stage of GW21 in the Premier League, SportsLens have evaluated the best picks for your Fantasy Premier League squad this weekend – as AFCON causes a list of absences.
FPL GW21 Picks
William Saliba (Arsenal, £5.6m)
The Arsenal defender has enjoyed a stellar season so far, being labelled as one of the best centre backs in the league and forming a solid partnership with Gabriel.
However, recent performances from the Gunners have shown some weaknesses to their formidable back-line, after losing the last three matches (all competitions).
Mikel Arteta’s side welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates on Saturday afternoon and should be raring to go against a side who were in FA Cup action on Wednesday.
With that in mind, we expect the French international to guide Arsenal to a clean sheet and the absence of Michael Olise may blunt the Crystal Palace attack.
Luis Diaz (Liverpool, £7.4m)
Liverpool are on a superb run of form in the Premier League, as you have to go back to September to find their last league defeat – a match where the Reds went down to nine men and were on the receiving end of a wrong VAR decision.
Luis Diaz has endured a difficult campaign, relating to off-field issues with his father and the Colombian is starting to find the form from last season.
Scoring the decider in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup and a strong performance against Newcastle – Diaz is back on form.
Mohamed Salah will miss the upcoming fixtures while on international duty for Egypt, meaning Luis Diaz will be relied upon to score and assist against Bournemouth this weekend.
James Ward-Prowse (West Ham, £6m)
The Hammers suffered a crushing defeat during the week, as West Ham lost 1-0 to Championship side, Bristol City, in the FA Cup.
However, James Ward-Prowse has proved to be a strong addition this season and has registered nine goal contributions (3G+6A).
His ability from set pieces could prove vital on Sunday afternoon, as West Ham take on Sheffield United – a team that have conceded seven goals from set plays.
Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest, £4.9m)
The New Zealand striker has worked his way back into the starting eleven at Nottingham Forest, as Nuno Espirito Santo begins his tenure at the City Ground.
Wood has scored four goals in his last three Premier League matches, including a superb hat-trick against his former side, Newcastle.
Forest travel to Brentford in GW21, as the Bees look to end a run of five straight league defeats – their worst since joining the Premier League.
The 32-year-old was on the scoresheet again on Wednesday, scoring the winner against Blackpool in extra-time of the FA Cup round three replay.
