Gillingham vs Sheffield United Preview
Bottom of the Premier League Sheffield United travel to Kent to take on Gillingham in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon, with Chris Wilder’s side aiming to bring an end to their four game winless run.
Last time out, the Blades were beaten 2-0 by reigning treble-winners Manchester City, following on from their disappointing 3-2 defeat to fellow relegation-battlers Luton, in which they led before netting two late own-goals.
Gillingham on the other hand, come into this one off the back of a New Year’s Day win over Colchester United. The Gills ran out as 1-0 victors in that one, seeing them climb up to 10th place in the League Two table – just a point shy of Wimbledon in the play-off positions.
This meeting will mark the first clash between Gillingham and Sheffield United in almost seven years, with their last head-to-head ending in a 2-2 stalemate in League One at the end of January 2017.
