In December 2023 alone, West Ham have beaten the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and rivals Tottenham Hotspur with David Moyes’ side setting their sights on a top six finish in the Premier League.

It’s been a fantastic month for the Hammers and they were even trounced 5-0 by Fulham on match week 16, but they have gone on to win every top-flight match since without conceding a goal.

The East Londoners are riding the crest of a wave currently and they will be hoping to cruise through into 2024 the same way they have ended the current year.

There’s one stat that has emerged after their most recent victory against Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing Gunners which shows why they are the most improved side in England’s elite division across the last 12 months.

West Ham In 2023/24

West Ham have enjoyed a brilliant first half to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign which sees them currently occupy 6th spot in the table.

Not only have they got the better of Arsenal and Tottenham, the Hammers have enjoyed memorable victories against Brighton, Chelsea and Manchester United.

In terms of points registered, the Iron have 33 on the board. This is the most they have ever recorded after 19 Premier League games.

Furthermore, David Moyes’ side finished top of their UEFA Europa League group which means they progress straight to the last 16.

Declan Rice Transfer

Declan Rice’s transfer to Arsenal in the summer appeared it was going to weaken West Ham somewhat, especially after they won the UEFA Europa Conference League.

However, that has not been the case at all with both London sides seemingly benefiting from Rice’s mega-money move to the Emirates Stadium in July 2023.

The Hammers used the £100m received for the England star to sign Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse and the trio have been excellent so far in claret and blue.

Rice has enjoyed a fine start to his career in North London but it may come as a surprise to many to see David Moyes’ side do so well without their former star player.

West Ham Last Season

Domestically, West Ham struggled last season but they still went on to win their first ever European trophy after beating Fiorentina in Prague.

At the halfway stage of last season, the Hammers points total was just 15. They have 18 more points this season after 19 games. This is four more points than any of the other 17 top-flight sides from 2022/23.

In fact, they are just seven points off matching their points tally from last year and have already won ten games, one less than they managed in the entirety of last season.

It really is no surprise that David Moyes is being rumoured to sign a new contract at the London Stadium. The Scot will almost certainly be blowing bubbles for a few more years in East London yet.
