Birmingham vs Leicester Preview

Leicester City travel to the West Midlands on Monday to take on Birmingham City in the Championship, with the Foxes aiming to extend their unbeaten run to six straight matches in the second tier.

Enzo Maresca’s side sit at the top of the table after 21 matches, and have won their last three league outings against West Brom, Plymouth and Millwall, while the Blues occupy a lowly-17th place – just six points clear of the relegation zone.

Wayne Rooney’s side come into this one off the back of a victory though, as they narrowly edged Cardiff City 1-0 in the Welsh capital over the weekend, bringing an end to an unwanted three game winless run.

The pair meet competitively for the first time in well over three years, with their last clash ending in a 1-0 win for Leicester in the FA Cup thanks to a Ricardo Pereira strike eight minutes from time.

Fulham loanee Jay Stansfield was forced off with a knock against Cardiff last time out, but Rooney has since confirmed that the issue isn’t a serious one and that the youngster will be available for Leicester’s visit on Monday.

The same can’t be said for Ethan Laird and Cody Drameh though, as the pair are set to be sidelined until at least the new year, while Tyler Roberts also misses out as he nears a return from his calf injury.

Birmingham Predicted Line-Up

Ruddy; Aiwu, Sanderson, Roberts, Buchanan; Bielik, Sunjic, James; Dembele, Stansfield, Bacuna

The Foxes will have to make do without legendary striker Jamie Vardy for this one, after Maresca confirmed that the Englishman will miss a third successive match due to a knee issue.

Callum Doyle and Harry Souttar are also unavailable for the trip to the West Midlands, as the pair remain on the treatment table for the league leaders.
