Chelsea’s unbeaten home record against Yorkshire teams in the Premier League stretches back more than two decades – and almost 30 games.
The Premier League’s bottom club Sheffield United travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday hoping to end the streak. The blue portion of West London has been a miserable hunting ground for teams representing the white rose of Yorkshire this century.
Chelsea have not lost at home in the league to a team from Yorkshire since Leeds United’s 2-0 triumph in December 1999. Sheffield United have not beaten Mauricio Pochettino’s side away from home in any competition for even longer.
The Blades last won at Chelsea in the Premier League back in October 1992 – winning 2-1.
No Yorkshire side has tried and failed to win at Stamford Bridge more times than Middlesbrough, though.
Boro have played at Chelsea no less than 11 times in the Premier League since 1999. On eight of those occasions, they have travelled back up the M1 with their tails between their legs.
They have at least picked up three points in total, however. With three draws, Middlesbrough have taken almost as many points off Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as the rest of Yorkshire combined in that time.
The only Yorkshire side not to have taken anything away from Chelsea since Leeds won 24 years ago are Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls were relegated that same season, losing 3-0 at Chelsea on 29 December 1999. They have not returned to the top flight since, and currently sit 23rd in the EFL Championship.

While it may seem an impossible task for Sheffield United on Saturday, Chelsea are far from at their best. The Blues are 12th in the table, 11 points above the bottom-placed Blades but a whole 14 points off the Champions League places.
A win would not take Sheffield United out of the bottom three, but could move them off the foot of the Premier League, should Luton or Burnley fail to win. Chelsea could move back into the top half with a victory, overtaking neighbours Fulham who face Newcastle away.
