Jurgen Klopp could give a whole host of Liverpool youngsters a run out against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday night, with several being named in the squad in lieu of first teamers.
Off the back of climbing to the top of the Premier League table last weekend, Liverpool face a trip to Brussels to take on Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in their final Europa League group fixture.
The Reds have already confirmed a first place finish in Group E after overcoming LASK Linz with a comfortable 4-0 scoreline last time out, therefore several rotations are expected for this one with youngsters and fringe players being tipped for involvement.
It’ll give regular first teamers such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who haven’t been named in Jurgen Klopp‘s 23-man squad for the clash, a well-earned rest ahead of their game against Manchester United on Sunday.
Alexis Mac Allister won’t get the chance to face his brother again either, as the Argentine remains out injured and has been ruled out of this weekend’s crunch battle against the Red Devils.
Jarell Quansah (20) has become accustomed to being named in the Liverpool squad during the first half of the season, featuring nine times in Europe and the league, and the Warrington-born defender is involved once again for this one and is expected to start for a second successive match.
Highly-rated attacking duo Ben Doak (18) and Kaide Gordon (19), who have previously been involved in the Europa League squad, are named among the travelling 23. The pair have been tipped to start by some supporters within the Reds fanbase, with Scottish winger Doak already boasting two appearances in the competition.
Welsh duo Tom Hill (21) and Lewis Koumas (18), along with James McConnell (19), Conor Bradley (20), Luke Chambers (19), Calum Scanlon (18), Marcelo Pitaluga (20) and Fabian Mrozek (20) are also named in Klopp’s squad, and they’ll all be hopeful of gaining some minutes at the Stade Joseph Marien in Saint-Gilles.
