Brighton vs Marseille Preview
It’s judgement day in the Europa League’s Group B, as second place Brighton welcome leaders Marseille to the Amex with just a point separating the pair heading into the final matchday of the group stage.
Both sides have already secured advancement to the knockout stages, however whoever finished first in the group will bypass the play-offs and go straight to the last-16, giving the pair a huge incentive to go out for the win on the south coast.
Brighton fought from 2-0 down to snatch a point via a 2-2 draw late on in the reverse fixture at the Velodrome, and have since gone on to win three European matches in succession. Marseille have achieved the same feat since that night in October, and boast an unbeaten record in the group.
It’s the Ligue 1 side who come into the clash in more favourable form too, having won their last four matches across all competitions, as well as having suffered just one defeat in their last nine. Roberto De Zerbi‘s side have recorded a win, a draw and a loss in their last three matches, most recently playing out a 1-1 stalemate against relegation strugglers Burnley.
