Atletico Madrid vs Lazio Preview
Lazio head to the Spanish capital on Wednesday evening to take on Atletico Madrid in their final Champions League group stage match of the campaign, with both sides hoping to end the evening at the top of the table.
The pair have already secured their advancement to the competition’s last-16 in lieu of Feyenoord and Celtic, however just a point separates the pair with Atleti topping the pile heading into the final matchday.
Their last meeting came in the reverse fixture at the Stadio Olimpico back in September, in which Lazio snatched a dramatic point after drawing 1-1 in the dying moments through goalkeeper Ivan Provedel.
Since then, both sides have enjoyed decent spells of form in their respective domestic leagues, with Atleti winning five of their last six matches across all competitions. Maurizio Sarri’s side on the other hand, are unbeaten in four and have won three of their last four matches.
