Chelsea captain Reece James’ Tweet at the beginning of the season hasn’t been a great omen for the full-back after yet another injury setback.
What Was Reece James’ Tweet At The Start Of The Season?
Following Chelsea’s hard-fought 1-1 draw with current Premier League leaders Liverpool at the beginning of the season, in which the Blues dominated proceedings, Reece James posted an upbeat message on Twitter/X.
In it, he said “new era loading… ps. we just getting started.”

Since then, however, things have never really got started for Chelsea or James, as the London club have struggled to put together any kind of consistent form.
Chelsea And James’ Misfortune Since The Tweet
In the months that have gone by since Reece James’ infamous tweet, the Blues have won just five Premier League games all season and currently sit 12th in the Premier League table alongside Brentford, Wolves and Bournemouth.
On a personal level for James, this season has been one to forget so far for the England international. Following Chelsea’s opening fixture against Liverpool, James would miss 2 months of football after picking up a hamstring injury.
Having returned from his hamstring injury, James then went on to pick up a red card against Newcastle United which saw him suspended for Chelsea’s game against Brighton.

Then, on Sunday in Chelsea’s 2-0 away loss to Everton, the club captain limped off the pitch after 27 minutes with yet another hamstring injury.
Having already missed 35 games over the past four seasons due to hamstring issues, James now looks set to be out of action till February or March.
Chelsea‘s next Premier League fixture comes against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge, but, with the Blues coming off the back of successive Premier League defeats, the game has become a must-win.
