Arsenal fans were in heaven over a winner from Declan Rice with the last kick of the game but that wasn’t the only high to come out of the game. January target Ivan Toney sent support to Arsenal over a Instagram post which has sent Gunners fans into a frenzy.

What did Toney post?

Toney tagged England teammate Declan Rice into the post with the caption ‘What a game.’ Seeing Toney watch and show Arsenal support is exciting for fans as he’s been heavily linked with a move to the club in January from Brentford.

Toney has since deleted the post as it has sparked some speculation online.

Arsenal fan reactions

On X, Incredible Go Getter responded to Toney’s post by commenting: “Ivan Toney can’t wait to convert those chances for Arsenal.”

Another user commented: “Ivan Toney at Arsenal will be madness, if they go on to be winter champions and he joins in January, they are DEFINITELY winning the League.”

Another said: “Ivan Toney was watching our game against Luton. Is he coming?”

Why do Arsenal want Toney?

Arsenal have been lacking a prolific striker as fans have shown dissatisfaction with the amount of goals that Gabriel Jesus has managed in his time at the club. Just 17 goals in 48 appearances

Eddie Nketiah has also proved he’s not quite ready to be Arsenal’s leading man.

Ivan Toney scored 20 goals for Brentford last season but he’s not played for them this season as he received a short term ban from football for breaching betting rules.

That ban will end in January where Arsenal will be looking to purchase Toney. It’s understood that Brentford’s asking price is around £80m.

Rivals Chelsea are also in the hunt for Toney as summer signing Nicolas Jackson has shown he isn’t Premier League quality. Chelsea aren’t afraid to spend big as they made the most expensive British signing in the summer when they signed Moises Caicedo from Brighton for £115m.

They’ve also spent over £1bn since 2022 under new owner Todd Boehly.
