Rio Ferdinand left the Parc Des Princes early despite being apart of the TNT Sports coverage team. He left presenter Laura Woods to explain his reasoning for leaving.
Why did Ferdinand leave?
It was explained that the former Manchester United defender was feeling ill last night in Newcastle’s Champions League game against PSG and he rushed off to his hotel room to try and recover for Galatasaray’s game against Manchester United.
TNT Sports presenter Woods said: “Rio would be here to chat about Manchester United now, but we had to let him go [due to] unforeseen circumstances.
“He is OK. Don’t worry.”
Ferdinand is a valued member of the TNT Sports coverage panel and has been doing live coverage since 2015 when he joined BT Sport after his retirement from Manchester United.
Ferdinand issued fans an update regarding his health and assuring them he will be apart of the coverage for Manchester United’s game against Galatasaray this evening (29th November).
Alongside TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher, Ferdinand appears in a video at an airport ahead of a trip to Istanbul.
The former defender said: “I almost didn’t make this flight, but it’s Man United… in Istanbul… I had to be there with this man.”
