England supporters have taken to Twitter to voice their frustration as Jordan Henderson starts for the Three Lions once again in a Euro 2024 qualifier.
England have already qualified for the European Championships next year, after Gareth Southgate’s side beat Italy 3-1 last month.
However, on Friday evening they have the chance to cement their place at the top of Group C, as a victory would put them out of reach going in to the final match of the qualifying rounds.
On what should be an exciting and stress-free night for England, given their recent performances of eight unbeaten matches in a row – supporters remain frustrated.
The inclusion of Kalvin Phillips and Jordan Henderson in the 22-man squad has been a persistent criticism of Southgate. Phillips has played under 100 minutes in the Premier League this season and Henderson now plays his football in Saudi Arabia.
Many would like to see the inclusion of James Ward-Prowse, who has mad an excellent start to his West Ham career and Nottingham Forest midfielder, Morgan Gibbs-White.
Southgate has ignored his critics by starting Henderson in England’s starting eleven against Malta – a decision that has not gone down well on Twitter.
