Grand Slam Of Darts Day 3 Tips

19:15 – Gerwyn Price vs Gian van Veen: Price To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 5/2

There’s no denying that Gerwyn Price is in top form, and he is taking Group D by storm. He has won both of his games so far, beating Nathan Rafferty 5-1, before a 5-0 white wash victory over Ryan Searle.

The Ice Man will be bidding to win the Grand Slam of Darts for the fourth time this year and confidence is sky high.

Gian van Veen is currently undergoing his breakthrough year on the PDC tour, and is one of the sport’s hottest prospects, but he has failed to make an impact in Wolverhampton thus far, losing both of his games.

That’s why we’re backing Gerwyn Price to be the “King of the Oche” and win the match with the highest checkout and most 180s.

19:45 – Josh Rock vs Berry van Peer: Rock To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 5/2

Josh Rock has already progressed to the knockout stages after winning his first two games in Group B, with wins over Chris Dobey and Jonny Clayton.

If the Northern Irishman is in the same kind of form already shown so far he should prove hard to beat once again. Berry van Peer has not enjoyed his Grand Slam of Darts debut so far and has lost both of his games.

We’re backing one of darts’ biggest talents to impress and win with the highest checkout and most 180s. With a couple of dominant displays already, Rock should cruise to victory.

20:15 – Gary Anderson vs Steve Lennon: Anderson To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 8/5

Gary Anderson has recently returned to form after enduring a couple of on-and-off seasons, but right now he looks to be really enjoying his darts and has one win and one loss so far in Group C.

He won his first game in Group C, narrowly beating Dirk van Duijvenbode 5-4 before being hammered by Luke Humphries 5-1. That Humphries loss can be forgiven though, with “Cool Hand” in a rich vein of form.

This is shallower waters, and Anderson can take advantage of Steve Lennon’s slow start in the Grand Slam of Darts. The Irishman has lost both of his games so far and faces another tough test here.

Anderson needs to win to confirm his spot in the next round of the competition, and we’re backing him to succeed with the highest checkout and most 180s.

20:45 – Luke Humphries vs Dirk van Dujvenbode: Humphries To Win @ 33/100

For the next of our Grand Slam of Darts Day 3 tips we’re going slightly safer with just Humphries to win, rather than highest checkout and most 180s.

These two players are closely matched in terms of quality and we are anticipating a close contest. Humphries has won both of his games so far in impressive fashion, beating Anderson and Lennon and he has secured his place in the knockouts already.

As for Van Duijvenbode he has won one and lost one so far and he is level on points in Group C with Anderson. He needs to win and better the Scotsman’s leg difference to confirm his spot in the next round.

However, Humphries has beat the Dutchman three times in 2023 without losing, and we are backing him to win.

21:15 – Ryan Searle vs Nathan Rafferty: Searle To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 49/20

These two players have exactly the same record so far in Group D, winning a game and losing one too. Whoever wins this one will cement their spot in the second round, so it’s all to play for.

Searle was an emphatic 6-1 winner the last time these two met in Players Championship 22, and we are anticipating his experience to allow him to prevail in this one.

Being one of the most consistent 180 hitters on the circuit, Searle knows exactly where the treble 20 is. It’s also worth noting that Rafferty is yet to hit a maximum in the competition so far. He also failed to record a single ton-plus checkout in his 5-2 win over Van Veen.

We think Searle will win and win well with the highest checkout and most 18os.

21:45 – Krzysztof Ratajski vs Nathan Girvan: Ratajski To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 11/5

Ratajski has had a good 2023 so far, ranking well in major tournaments and picking up plenty of prize money. He’s also not had a bad Grand Slam of Darts so far, winning one and losing once too. He beat James Wade 5-4 before losing to World Champion Michael Smith, which can be forgiven.

As for Nathan Girvan, the youngster is yet to fire on his debut in the tournament and sits rock bottom of the group with zero points after two losses.

The Polish Eagle should have the quality to overcome Girvan and we’re backing him to complete the hat-trick with the win, highest checkout and most 180s.

Ratajski also needs to win to stand a chance of getting through to Round Two, and will be relying on Smith to beat Wade in the game that follows this one to do so.

22:15 – Michael Smith vs James Wade: Smith To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 5/2

Michael Smith is the world champion for a reason, and won his first major title in this very tournament last year. He currently tops Group A with four points and a 100% record.  After beating both Girvan and Ratajski, confidence is high for the St Helens man.

As for Wade, he was unfortunate in defeat against Ratajski on opening night but done well to bounce back when thrashing Girvan 5-2 on Sunday.

“Bully Boy” Smith is known for his 180 hitting ability and on the other hand, Wade is not and is more known for his 140s. That’s why we feel this is a solid selection and a likely outcome.

Smith’s scoring can help him win this match. Te has already hit four 180s and two ton-plus finishes in his first two outings of the tournament.

22:45 – Jonny Clayton vs Chris Dobey: Clayton To Win @ 17/20

To end the night and our Grand Slam of Darts Day 3 tips, we have Jonny Clayton taking on Chris Dobey. We feel that Clayton has a good chance of confirming his spot in the second round with a win against “Hollywood”

We’re going for the safe play of Clayton to win, as his 180 hitting can sometimes be inconsistent despite having a good ton-plus checkout record.

Both players have made decent starts to the tournament, with a win and loss each – both losing to Rock and winning against Van Peer.

We should be in for a closely contested affair, but Clayton holds the upper hand in recent meetings, winning three times against Dobey in 2023 without losing. That’s why we’re backing the Ferret to win.
