Bournemouth vs Newcastle Preview & Prediction
The Magpies return to Premier League action off the back of midweek disappointment in the Champions League, as they take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.
Eddie Howe‘s side suffered a second consecutive defeat to Borussia Dortmund in Europe’s premier competition, seeing them drop down to the bottom of their group, leaving them a monumental task to advance to the knockout stages.
Their form domestically however, can be lauded. Newcastle are currently on a nine game unbeaten run in England, with their last defeat coming against Brighton at the start of September – over two months ago.
Unfortunately for the Cherries, not much can be said in terms of praise for their form. Andoni Iraola’s side have managed just one win from their opening 11 Premier League matches – a return that sees them amongst the bottom three in the relegation zone, level on points with 17th place Luton.
Bournemouth will be boosted by Newcastle’s list of absentees though, with a whopping nine first team players ruled out, and a further two being earmarked as major doubts for the clash on the south coast.
Despite the visitors’ extensive injury and suspension list, we at SportsLens are still backing the Magpies to reign victorious, and are predicting them to do so fairly comfortably.
Prediction: Bournemouth 1-3 Newcastle

Bournemouth vs Newcastle Betting Tip 1: Newcastle To Win & Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/5
Our first tip for your Saturday evening Bournemouth vs Newcastle bet builders is to back the Magpies to come out on top, and for over 2.5 goals to be scored in the match, priced at 7/5.
As previously alluded to, the Tyneside club are unbeaten in nine straight domestic matches with wins over Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City included in that run, so we expect them to make light work of the Cherries despite their injury concerns.
Not only are they on an unbeaten run, but over 2.5 goals have been scored in four of Newcastle’s last five domestic matches, whilst all of Bournemouth’s last six matches have done so too, and we expect the same feat to be achieved at the Vitality this time around.
Bournemouth vs Newcastle Betting Tip 2: Joe Willock To Score Anytime @ 4/1
Joe Willock has faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, but having returned to action against Dortmund at St. James’ Park towards the end of last month, the ex-Arsenal midfielder has appeared in five straight matches for the Magpies.
Two of those have come as starts, one being against Dortmund in midweek, and with Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali suspended, as well as Elliot Anderson being injured, Willock is almost certain to be afforded a start on the south coast this weekend.
We’ve seen how threatening the 24-year-old can be in front of goal in previous seasons when he’s fit and firing, and he showed a glimpse of that by netting against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup at the start of the month.
Facing off against a Bournemouth side who have conceded the second highest amount of any team in the league this term (27), we believe that Willock will have an opportunity to get on the scoresheet on Saturday, and are backing him to do so at 4/1.
