AC Milan fans greeted Gianluigi Donnarumma with a unique reception at San Siro on his return with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Donnarumma returned to San Siro for PSG’s Champions League clash with AC Milan. The Italy goalkeeper made the switch to the French club in 2021 on a free transfer, in a move that reportedly earned him over £10 million ($12 million) annually.

This move stirred the outrage of Milan’s ultras, who, in protest, created fake money adorned with Donnarumma’s face, cheekily dubbing him ‘Dollar-umma,’ implying that he had made the transfer solely for financial gain.

During his tenure with Milan, the Italian international made 251 appearances, but his trophy cabinet only contained the Italian Super Cup. He did, however, achieve Euro 2022 glory with the Italian national team.

Since joining PSG, Donnarumma has clinched the Ligue 1 title twice.

Donnarumma’s return was an unhappy one for him personally, as PSG suffered their second defeat of the competition. Goals from Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud helped seal a crucial win for AC Milan, who have overtaken Newcastle in third.

Borussia Dortmund lead the group following their 2-0 victory over Eddie Howe’s side. With two games to spare, it’s still all to play for in Group F.
