Michail Antonio Says West Ham Have Been ‘A Shambles’ After Losing Three Successive Matches

West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has described his side’s performances as ‘a shambles’ after narrowly losing to Everton at the weekend, which extended their losing streak to three straight matches.

Having enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, West Ham’s form has taken a major dip in recent weeks as they have now suffered three consecutive defeats.

A heavy 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa kickstarted the unwanted run, before a loss to Olympiacos in the Europa League, and most recently to relegation-threatened Everton at the London Stadium last Sunday.

Michail Antonio has turned out in all three of those matches, failing to score in any of them, and he has since described his side’s performances as ‘slack’, and added that West Ham have been ‘a shambles’.

“The team has been a bit of a shambles,” Antonio said on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, that he appears on alongside Newcastle striker Callum Wilson.

“Last three games, three losses, we’ve not really been performing at all. We’ve been a bit all over the place. It’s not the standard we set from the beginning of the season. I just take it as a bit of a slump. Hopefully we can come back from it in the next couple of games.

“I can’t really put it down to Everton. They played well. I just don’t think we performed well enough. I don’t think we kept the ball well enough, when we had the ball we kept giving it away. Our performances have been slack over the last week.”

33-year-old Antonio scored twice in his opening three Premier League matches in 2023/24, but has failed to put one in the back of the net since bagging against Brighton on August 26.

Up next for the Hammers is a midweek Carabao Cup fourth round clash as they host Arsenal on Wednesday night, before another all-London affair away at Brentford in the league on Saturday afternoon.
