Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are back in action on Wednesday evening as they welcome Blackburn to Stamford Bridge, and they’ll be looking to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Brentford at the weekend.
The Blues were unbeaten in four and sat in the top half prior to the defeat to the Bees, but now they find themselves in 11th place after Thomas Frank’s side overtook them in the table thanks to Saturday’s result.
They secured passage to the Carabao Cup’s last-16 with a narrow win over Brighton towards the end of last month, whilst Blackburn emphatically beat Cardiff City 5-2 in their third round tie.
As for the Rovers, they endured a similar scenario to Chelsea at the weekend as their three game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Swansea City. They were favoured to win the clash, but were beaten 2-0 at home and now sit 12th in the Championship table.
