Round four of the Carabao Cup is upon us and there are two fixtures to entertain fans this evening (Tuesday, 31st October), as Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough travel down south to take on Exeter City.

Round four of the Carabao Cup kicks off on Tuesday evening with two fixtures for fans to enjoy, however there won’t be any Premier League involvement until Wednesday night.
Just one Championship side is in action tonight, as Michael Carrick’s in-form Middlesbrough face a long 700 mile round trip down south to take on League One side Exeter City.
Boro endured a fairly poor start to the campaign, but turned it around in recent weeks by winning seven matches in succession, but that run came to an end on Saturday as they were beaten 2-0 by Stoke City.
As for the Grecians, they find themselves in a lowly 16th place in the third tier table, just three points clear of the drop zone, and played out a 1-1 stalemate against Lincoln last time out after losing six straight matches.
Tuesday’s second fixture sees Mansfield Town entertain Port Vale, with the Stags now being the lowest ranked team remaining in the competition as the only League Two side.
Mansfield currently find themselves in fourth place in the fourth tier, behind Stockport, Notts County and Wrexham, and are yet to suffer defeat this season – in 19 straight matches, so an upset is certainly on the cards.
They beat Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough on penalties in rounds two and three, meanwhile Port Vale narrowly advanced over Sutton in the last round, as they sit 15th in the League One table.
