West Ham have seen their odds of winning the Europa League drift, as the Hammers suffer a narrow defeat to Olympiacos. Konstantinos Fortounis long range effort and an Angelo Ogbonna own goal were enough to end David Moyes’ unbeaten record in Europe.

Match Report: Olympiacos vs West Ham
The visitors started stronger than their hosts, as Mohammed Kudus came close to scoring his third goal in the competition with a left-footed effort.
However, the majority of the first half was extremely cagey, with neither side creating many clear-cut chances.
This changed as the hosts found the opener, Konstantinos Fortounis unleashed a rocket into the bottom left corner and left Areola with no chance.
Things went from bad to worse for the Hammers, as Angelo Ogbonna found the back of his own net with and doubled the hosts’ lead.
The second-half started just like the first, with West Ham having the better chances. The Hammers failed to capitalise and were left frustrated as the match continued.
David Moyes’ side did find a consolation goal, as substitute Lucas Paqueta saw his long-range effort find the back of the net.
However, this was not enough to mount any sort of comeback and the Hammers suffered their first defeat in Europe for over a year.
Can West Ham Win The Europa League?
Last season’s Europa Conference League winners have continued their invincibility in Europe, as the Hammers have not lost a single match since re-entering Europe’s competitions.
Their form in England has also been impressive, sitting ninth in the Premier League and picking up points against Chelsea, Brighton and Newcastle.
Winning the Europa League will be a tough ask for the Hammers, with the likes of Brighton, Liverpool and Roma also gunning got the trophy.
The Hammers face Everton in the Premier League this weekend and will welcome Olympiacos to the London Stadium in their next European clash.
