Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy came off injured in Newcastle’s defeat to Borussia Dortmund last night. Isak came off after 15 minutes with a groin problem whilst Murphy came on a substitute but had to come off after 5 minutes.
Newcastle are already without the likes of Sven Botman and Harvey Barnes but they can add Isak and Murphy to the injury list as Eddie Howe confirms the seriousness of Murphy’s injury:
“Jacob came off with what looks like a serious injury,” Howe told TNT Sports.
“We’ve got a small squad as is it. That’s probably the most disappointing thing of the night.
“It looks like a recurrence of his Isak’s groin problem and it’s a big blow. Jacob’s looks serious, potentially a dislocation of his shoulder.”
Not to mention they’ll be without Sandro Tonali for the rest of the season as he’s been given a 10-month ban for betting breaches.
Murphy and Isak will both need to be assessed before Newcastle can give a verdict on how long they’ll be out for.
