Wimbledon Day 4 Tip – Ruud to Win 3-1

A pumped up home crowd could make this a tricky contest for three-time grand slam finalist Casper Rudd, who has not shied away from his love-hate relationship with grass.

Liam Broady’s grass-court credentials are certainly not to be sniffed at having reached the third round here last year, and a he barely broke a sweat in his straight-set victory against Constant Lestienne at the beginning of the week.

Ruud needed four sets to sweep aside qualifier Laurent Lokoli in his opener to grab only his second ever win at Wimbledon across four appearances.

This contest will be decided on very fine margins, but Ruud looked as comfortable as he’s ever looked on grass in the first round, and we think he could edge this match-up with another four-set win.

Wimbledon Day 4 Tip – Svitolina to Win

2019 semi-finalist Elina Svitolina has enjoyed a spectacular return to tennis after giving birth towards the end of last year, and even reached the final eight of the French Open in June.

She comes up against a familiar opponent in the shape of Elise Mertens, with the pair having faced each other five times down the years – Svitolina just edges the head-to-head with three wins.

As the slight underdog in the current market, this price was enough for us to take a chance on a resurgent Svitolina, who has tasted defeat on just four occasions since the start of May. With a commendable history at this most prestigious of venues, it could be a shrewd selection at 13/10.

Wimbledon Day 4 Tip – Rybakina to Win

Defending champion Elena Rybakina dusted off any suggestions that a troubling virus before the tournament may hamper her preparations, as she recovered from an opening set slump to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 against Shelby Rogers.

She faces French veteran Elize Cornet, who is almost a decade her senior. She reached the fourth round last year to match her best finish here from 2014, just months after registering her first ever grand slam quarter-final.

Despite Cornet enjoying a glittering tail-end to her career, Rybakina switched to another gear to win her first round match and she has a lot to prove as the reigning champ.

Her impeccable service games are hard to break and she looked at ease on centre court by the end against Rogers – we are backing her to register a straight set win here.
