Wimbledon Betting Tip 1: Rybakina to Win Outright
Given six of the last eight winners of the women’s singles at Wimbledon have been different champions, attempting to pick a favourite is reserved for the bravest of bettors.
Of course, the formidable Iga Swiatek heads to the All England Lawn Club with all the leading claims after picking up her fourth grand slam at just 22, but she is yet to find her best game on grass which has proven to be a problematic surface in the past.
The Poland native has never managed to secure safe passage past the fourth round, which has led us to look for value further down the outright market.
We didn’t have to do much searching however, with last year’s champion Elena Rybakina jumping out as this year’s joint-second favourite.
4/1 doesn’t present much value, but she possesses all the traits that combined to make a successful grass court competitor; tall and agile with a tendency to stick to the baseline and rely on the success of her Tour-leading service game and hard-hitting groundstrokes.
The Kazakh knows what it takes to win this tournament having enjoyed a spectacular campaign last year, and although her preparation hasn’t been the best after pulling out of her warm-up event at Eastbourne, there are few better in this year’s field on this surface.
The added incentive to become the first repeat winner at Wimbledon since Serena Williams in 2016 should provide an extra sprinkling of motivation heading into next week.
She kicks off her campaign with a less than favourable first round draw against Shelby Rogers, who has claimed victory over her in two of the last five meetings.
Nevertheless, she more than likely will not have to face the perceived tournament frontrunners until the quarters, where she could be on a collision course with last year’s final opponent Ons Jabeur.

Wimbledon Betting Tip 2: Rune to Win and Each Way
At a pre-tournament price of 33/1, Holger Rune is worth taking a chance on.
The blossoming Dane is one of a host of names emerging from a supremely talented pool of next-gen competitors. Already a four-time winner on the ATP Tour at just 20-year-old, Rune is one of the youngest ever Masters 1000 winners and is primed for an explosive summer.
After defeating Wimbledon favourite Novak Djokovic at his maiden Rome Masters, he went on to register his best ever grand slam finish at Roland-Garros with a run to the quarters.
A typically fiery and aggressive competitor, he will only benefit from further tournament experience, but his surprisingly mobility and monstrous ability on the volley makes him a hard man to beat.
He also kicked off the grass season with a respectable run the semi-finals of Queens last week, where he seemed to go from strength-to-strength on this surface.
Unfortunately for Rune, number one seed Carlos Alcaraz appears to be the most likely opponent if he should reach the final eight, but he should be able to ease himself into this year’s competition after being handed British wildcard first round opponent in George Loffhagen.
