Chelsea are in the final stages of agreeing a deal with RB Leipzig for French star Christopher Nkunku per Sky Sports, with the forward closing in on a Summer move to London.

Nkunku’s contract at Leipzig sees him remain at the German club until 2026, however it’s believed that Chelsea are willing to pay above the €60 million release clause to secure the player.

With six goals in his opening eight Bundesliga matches this season, it is no wonder Chelsea are looking to snap up the 24-year old who is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now.

The French International has already featured eight games for his country this season and will certainly be expected to play a huge part in France’s World Cup bid in the coming weeks.

Nkunku can play both in midfield as well as in a more advanced role, and it’s the more forward positions that the Leipzig star has been thriving in over the last season, as he was awarded four player of the month awards last season.

The Frenchman was also named as Bundesliga player of the season last year over the likes of serial goal-scorers Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski. But with an incredible 20 goals and 15 assists in 34 games, Nkunku’s value in the market is unquestionable.

It was reported earlier in the week that Nkunku has already in fact completed his medical ahead of signing for Chelsea however the star is still yet to officially make a decision on his future.
