Matt Chapman Tips – Thursday 7th April 2022
Matt Chapman’s Grand National Festival Aintree Day 1 Horse Racing Tips
1.45 – Pic D’Orhy @ 11/4 with 888Sport
2.20 – Pied Piper @ 10/11 with 888Sport
2.55 – Protektorat @ 11/4 with 888Sport
3.30 – Brewinupastorm @ 5/1 with 888Sport
4.05 – Porlock Bay @ 11/2 with 888Sport
4.40 – Frero Banbou @ 6/1 with 888Sport
5.15 – Rosy Redrum @ 4/1 with 888Sport
1.45 Manifesto Novices’ Chase (Grade 1) – PIC D’ORHY @ 11/4 with 888Sport
Matt Chapman is siding with Pic D’Orhy to get trainer Paul Nicholls off to a flying start as he chases down another UK Trainers’ Championship. He believes this Grade 1 action which gets us started on the three-day Aintree bonanza suits Pic D’Orhy and it will bring out the best in him.
2.20 Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1) – PIED PIPER @ 10/11 with 888Sport
The Grand National meeting on ITV gets under way here with a Grade 1 for juvenile hurdlers over 2m1f. Chapman thinks that Pied Piper will be very hard to beat for Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell.
The Triumph Hurdle third was probably just outstayed by two top class youngsters at the Cheltenham Festival last month but this sharp track should brig out the best in Pied Piper, especially if the ground stays relatively firm.
2.55 Betway Bowl Chase (Grade 1) – PROTEKTORAT @ 11/4 with 888Sport
It’s hard to think Protektorat didn’t prove his stamina when third in the Gold Cup behind A Plus Tard and we have already got evidence this tight track is absolutely what he enjoys.
That came in a startling performance in the Many Clouds Chase earlier in the season. Dan Skelton’s runner is lightly raced this season, fresh and will take some stopping under Harry Skelton.
