Brazilian international striker Gabriel Barbosa has been linked with a move to the Premier League during the January transfer window.

According to 90min, Arsenal are keen on signing the 25-year-old striker and he could cost in excess of £30 million. The report further states that the likes of Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are in the race to sign the Brazilian striker as well.

Apparently, the player’s intermediaries are now actively looking at his options for the January transfer window and clubs from Germany, Spain, Italy and the Middle East are thought to be keeping tabs on his situation as well.

Gabriel Barbosa, nicknamed Gabigol, has played in Italy before but he is not keen on a return to Serie A.  Furthermore, the Middle East is not an option for him at this stage of his career either. Gabigol’s previous spell in Europe was a failure and he will be desperate to prove himself this time around.

It seems that the Brazilian wants to test himself in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners can convince him to move to London.

Arsenal could definitely use a prolific goal scorer like him especially with Alexandre Lacazette expected to leave the club in the coming months. Star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not been at his best this season either and the arrival of Gabigol could help share the goalscoring burden.

The reported £30 million asking price could end up proving a bargain if the player manages to adapt to Premier League football. The Brazilian’s goalscoring pedigree is beyond doubt and he could be a key player for the Gunners for years to come.

The 25-year-old has scored 130 goals in his last four seasons and he could sort out Arsenal’s goal-scoring problems for the foreseeable future.
