West Ham United are eager to sign Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal after an impressive loan spell during the second half of last season.

After joining the London club in January, the 28-year-old chipped in with nine goals and five assists in just 16 league appearances.

According to Football Insider, the player is keen on joining the Hammers this summer but wants a pay rise to make him West Ham’s top earner.

Lingard established himself as a key player for the Hammers, and he undoubtedly played a key role in their strong end to the campaign.

He settled in well with the London club and could make an immediate impact if he joins them permanently.

His ability to play in multiple attacking roles could prove invaluable for the Premier League club as they strive to build on their impressive 2020/21 campaign.

Man United will have seen his performances during the second half of last season, and they will be keen to recoup as much as possible for him this summer.

The Red Devils are prepared to play the long game and wait for a lucrative offer before allowing the player to leave.

Lingard is expected to return for pre-season with United in early July.
